"A TRIO sounding like a large ensemble! Sounds, expected, unexpected. A surprise from reknowned musicians. Mia Zabelka, Johannes Frisch, Pavel Fajt. On this record the band is a real unit, everyone is listening, everyone has space. And they sound powerful - the example how good musicians can create a team, no egoism, they are in the studio to make music. True collaboration!" Bojan Djordjevic

"Mia Zabelka Trio featuring Pavel Fajt & Johannes Frisch: Weird Tales & Elegant Motion - Even though the album is usually led under Zabelka’s name, the role of Pavel in the musical conceptions seems to be absolutely equal, or at least very important. Pavel Fajt, born in Brno, is the most prominent Czech avant- and progressive rock drummer, and one of the most prominent musicians of this genre. I include him in my book in the first place as a prominent Czech rocker, but he also has had quite close contacts to the Polish alternative scene. The music is a mixture of “old ideas” stemming from The Cream and Jimi Hendrix with the more contemporary ones of Mahavishnu Orchestra or Medeski, Martin & Wood. Whatever the inspirations, the music is hot, very lively, creative and expressive. As I commented above, Zabelka often plays much more complex and ambitious music (see her performances with Maggie Nichols and John Russell on YouTube, for instance), still the music of this album is very respectably complex and absorbing, despite the evident rock connections. Pavel is fabulous all over the set, and so is Frisch. Zabelka plays phenomenally expressively on the electric violin, but her singing is also an amazing thing. Altogether this is a truly innovative and great album, one of the most interesting avant-jazz albums of the last ten years." Maciej Lewenstein
